Abstract
DOPAMINE-β-HYDROXYLASE is released from the catecholamine storage vesicles of the adrenal medulla together with epinephrine1. The ratio of released catecholamine to enzyme is similar to that found in the soluble contents of these vesicles. Douglas and Poisner2 found that adenosine triphosphate (ATP) was released during such adrenal stimulation and proposed that adrenal secretion takes place by a process of exocytosis (that is, emptying of the contents of the nerve vesicles).
