Observations of Vibration–Vibration Energy Pumping between Diatomic Molecules

Abstract

The simultaneous, coupled vibrational relaxation of two diatomic species is discussed theoretically. In conditions of high vibrational and low translational temperature the species with the smaller vibrational energy level spacing will be vibrationally pumped by the other species.
