Anomalous Luni-solar Daily Variation in the Geomagnetic Field at Watheroo, Western Australia

Abstract

A PROGRAMME for the analysis of IGY data from magnetic observatories has recently been extended to the observatory at Watheroo, Western Australia (S. 30° 19′, E. 115° 53′). The dip latitude of this site is φ= −46°.4 (tan φ = ½ tan I, where I is the magnetic dip). The observatory operated from 1919 to 1959 and was situated about 90 km from the coast on an open sandy plain. The nearest railway line was 17 km away.
