Abstract

Camels and Merino sheep under tropical arid conditions are more sensitive to the action of vasopressin than cattle, dogs or men. The hormone increases the output of potassium from the kidney even when the animals are artificially depleted of potassium. Arginine vasopressin has the same effect on newborn lambs as on the adult sheep, but lysine vasopressin has less effect.
