Abstract

SEVENTEEN-DAY-OLD pea plants (Pisum sativum L., variety Přebohatý) grown in the dark were decapitated above the different nodes as illustrated by horizontal bars in Fig. 1. The decapitated plants and the isolated sections of the stems were placed in a window of the laboratory, left there overnight and on the next day exposed to daylight. After 24 hr. the chlorophyll formation in the individual organs was visually evaluated by means of a standard colour scale.
