Flash Photolysis of Ferrous Sulphate Solutions

Abstract

KEEN has recently1 described the kinetics of oxidation of Fe(II) by the transient species produced when a 2-µsec. pulse of 4-MeV. electrons is absorbed by an aqueous solution. We have observed that a similar oxidation occurs in the flash photolysis of ferrous sulphate solutions.
