Abstract

PINEAPPLE stem tissue has been shown1 to contain a powerful indoleacetic acid oxidase system and a polyphenolic-type inhibitor. Other reports demonstrate the ability of certain phenols to stimulate or inhibit the indoleacetic acid oxidases of peas2, lentils3, wheat4, a fungus5, and lupins6, though none of the phenols has been shown to accompany these systems.
