Abstract

Bullous systemic lupus erythematosus is a relatively rare complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) that can be difficult to distinguish from other immunobullous diseases. Diagnosis requires consideration of clinical, histological and immunological factors and a concomitant SLE diagnosis. Once correctly diagnosed, dapsone, corticosteroids and/or immunosuppressants are the first treatment options to consider. If symptoms remain, rituximab may be beneficial.
