Mimosa roseoalba (Leguminosae: Mimosoideae), a new species from Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil

Summary

A new species of Mimosa L. sect. Calothamnos Barneby is described from the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. M. roseoalba is characterised by its hirsutulose indumentum of plumose and penicillate trichomes, in having leaves with a single pair of pinnae, flowers in cylindrical spikes, the corolla tube covered by simple, retrorsely adpressed trichomes and the corolla lobe apices with longer plumose trichomes, and by white to pink coloured stamen filaments united basally for 0.5 mm.
