Continuous-Wave Laser Performance of an LD-End-Pumped Single Tm3+-Doped GdVO4 Crystal at Room Temperature

Abstract

We investigate a laser-diode end-pumped continuous-wave Tm:GdVO4 laser with different crystal lengths at room temperature. At a Tm-doping concentration of 2.5 at.% and with a 3 × 3 × 3 mm3 crystal, we reach the maximum output power 670 mW at a central wavelength of 1,915 nm and a beam quality factor of 4.8. We show experimentally that the Tm:GdVO4 crystal used is quite sensitive to the operation temperature.
