Notes
The results of this collaboration presumably will get published by the end of this year as volume no. 29 of the Europäische Akademie’s book series Wissenschaftsethik und Technikfolgenbeurteilung.
This being the title of a report by the U.S. President’s Council on Bioethics (2003) that greatly stimulated the international debate on enhancement issues.
Most notably the “Transhumanists” whose activities can be surveyed at http://www.transhumanism.org/.
These so-called neuroprosthetic devices were the topic of an earlier article in Poiesis & Praxis (Rosahl 2004).
For the sake of accuracy, it should be mentioned, that Professor Schlaepfer did not attend the workshop in Brussels mentioned earlier, but rather presented the ideas of this article to the said project group on occasion of a meeting that was held in June 2005 in Leuven.
