Protein quality of some fresh-water algae

Conclusion

At present, the fresh water algae are of no economic value as fertilizer or as a food source for livestock or humans. However, the work of Burlew (4), Williams (18) and Krauss (9) illustrated that the search for fast growing, fresh water algae to be mass cultured in sewage, pulped garbage or other wastes to produce high quality protein and other usable organic compounds may be of primary importance to future generations.
