Summary
Three cases of gonadal dysgenesis with rare structural anomalies of a heterosome were discribed. In one case a small centric fragment of the X-chromosome was found, in the other two cases a total deletion of the long arm of the X-chromosome. The clinical and cytogenetic findings are compared with the cases in the literature and are discussed in connection with the Lyon-hypothesis. It is concluded from the findings that the short arm of the X-chromosome ist not affected by the inactivation which is postulated by the Lyon-hypothesis and that the short arm is more important for the development of a normal phenotype with exception of sexual differentiation than the long arm of the X-chromosome. Furthermore we emphasize the discrepancy of the interpretation of our cytogenetical findings with other cases described in the literature, in which in similar clinical and cytogenetic findings a „XY“-chromosome constitution has been assumed.
