Summary
-
1.
Observations on CSF pathways and behaviour of the BBB were carried out in lemon and nurse sharks, native of Bahama waters.
-
2.
Intraventricularly injected Evans blue in albumin solution filled the ependymalined ventricles, olfactory and cerebellar canals, as well as the saccus vasculosus, without any evidence of reaching and spreading along the external surfaces of the brain.
-
3.
Localized physical and chemical injuries to the brain failed to produce in sharks any significant extravasation of the intravenously administered tracer indicating a striking resistance of the blood-brain barrier.
Zusammenfassung
-
1.
-
3.
Örtliche physikalische und chemische Hirnläsionen riefen bei den Haien keine deutliche Permeation der i.v. verabreichten Markierungslösung hervor, was auf eine auffallende Resistenz der Blut-Hirn-Schranke hinweist.
