Summary
Experimental evidence has been obtained to show that a transient mutagen sensitive state, believed to be induced in Neurospora by DEB, can be stabilised by the protein synthesis inhibitor actidione. Sensitisation can thus be separated from the complicating effects of traces of the DEB retained by the cells following washing. The bearing of these results on the interpretation of the DEB after-effect and DEB mutation induction curves is briefly discussed.
