Abstract
This paper reviews evidence concerning the anatomy and physiology of brainstem neurons causing the quick phase of horizontal vestibular nystagmus in the cat. Available anatomical and physiological evidence is used to show for the first time that presently known neural connections constitute a network which results in the generation of the quick phase during maintained horizontal angular accelerations.
