Abstract
This article introduces the Earthquake Catalogue Database of China which is built on a VAX DBMS (it is called ECDC for short).
The data of the ECDC are rather complete and accurate with scientific value.
The structure of the ECDC contains the SCHEMA, STORAGE-SCHEMA and SUB-SCHEMAs n which are defined two records, five sets and six storage realms.
There is an interface system for the users. This system has versatile capability, by which a common user can conveniently call on the database, to fetch data or to manipulate the data.
Some special users can also access the database by DBQ, which is the query tool of the VAX DBMS, or can directly use the DML (Data Manipulation Language) that can be inlaid in high level programming languages.
