Summary
The determination of chemical composition by GPC is discussed on the basis of statistical and block copolymers from styrene-butadiene or α-methylstyrene-butadiene. This method can be used when the refractive index increment (dn/dc) of the copolymers is the sum of the refractive index increments of homopolymers. In addition, the dependence of extinction coefficient on the sequence length and the dependence of the refractive index of the polymer on relative molecular mass were considered. The GPC results were in good agreement with those obtained from IR and NMR spectroscopy.
