Abstract
The sporozoites ofGrellia dinophili fromDinophilus gyrociliatus and ofIsospora felis from the mesenteric lymph nodes of mice were studied by electron microscopy. Each species had typical coccidian features, such as a trimembranous pellicle, a conoid, polar rings, micronemes, rhoptries, subpellicular microtubules, a nucleus, and polysaccharide granules. A crystalloid body consisting of spherical subunits was present in both species. Sporozoites ofG. dinophili were extracellular within the body cavity, whereas inI. felis the parasites were intracellular in parasitophorous vacuoles with limiting membranes.
