Abstract

There is a clear association between neurologic disease, lower urinary tract symptoms, and sexual dysfunction. However, a detailed description of the correlation between different facets of these conditions is lacking. In this chapter, we systematically review the literature to identify publications that associated these three conditions. We selected 319 articles cited in Medline until 19 July 2021 to include in this review. We found a strong association between neurogenic LUTS and sexual dysfunction in men and women, affecting erection, ejaculation, vaginal lubrication, and orgasm. The most significant urinary condition that correlated with sexual dysfunction was OAB. Men and women adapted to these conditions in different proportions. Several reports addressed male infertility, but rarely was this problem addressed in women. Many questions need further research that we highlighted in this review.
