Zusammenfassung

Keimzelltumoren des Kindes sind Tumoren, deren Ursprung auf primordiale Keimzellen zurückgeführt wird. Das biologische Verhalten von Keimzelltumoren wird ganz wesentlich vom Alter des Patienten, Geschlecht, Tumorsitz, Histologie, aber auch Zytogenetik und Molekularbiologie beeinflusst. Keimzelltumoren umfassen ein breites Spektrum von Entitäten mit unterschiedlicher Klinik, Histologie und Biologie. Keimzelltumoren können maligne oder benigne sein, letzteres meist mit einem malignen Potenzial. Unterschieden werden extrakranielle Keimzelltumoren der Geschlechtsdrüsen (gonadal) von Tumoren anderer Lokalisation (extragonadal). Die Behandlung von Keimzelltumoren erfolgt überwiegend innerhalb multizentrischer prospektiver Therapiestudien. Diagnostik und Therapie intrakranieller Keimzelltumoren gehorchen besonderen Regeln und sind nicht Gegenstand dieses Kapitels (Plant et al. 2016, Pediatric malignant germ cell tumors: a comparison of the neuro-oncology and solid tumor experience. Pediatr Blood Cancer 63:2086–2095).
