Zusammenfassung

Der Morbus Wilson (hepatozelluläre Degeneration) ist eine autosomal-rezessiv vererbte Kupferspeichererkrankung, die durch eine verminderte biliäre Kupferausscheidung sowie eine gestörte Inkorperation von Kupfer in das von der Leber synthetisierte Protein Coeruloplasmin charakterisiert ist. Die verminderte Kupferausscheidung führt primär zu einer pathologischen Kupferakkumulation in der Leber, sekundär auch in anderen Organen, insbesondere ZNS, Kornea und Nieren. Die toxische Kupferablagerung in diesen Organen resultiert in primär hepatischen oder neurologischen Symptomen. Der unbehandelte, natürliche Verlauf des Morbus Wilson ist immer letal. Die Früherkennung des Morbus Wilson im Kindesalter ist für den Kinderarzt von zentraler Bedeutung, denn sie ermöglicht dank medikamentöser Therapieoptionen eine exzellente Langzeitprognose mit normaler Lebenserwartung.
