Definition
Health informatics is the science and practice of data, information, and knowledge to support the improvement of human health and healthcare delivery (International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) 2016; American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) 2011). A branch of health informatics – aged care informatics – is the application of health informatics to aging or to support the health of older adults.
Overview
Health informatics applies the principles of computer, information, social, and health sciences. It is a multidisciplinary and integrated field that drives innovation in research, education, public health, service delivery, and consumer healthcare.
