Introduction
The history of the Super Smash Bros. series of games has been a grand and still progressing task that has no end in sight. This entry offers a brief summary of each of the Super Smash Bros. games in terms of development and competitive scene.
Super Smash Bros. (Nintendo 64: 1999)
Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 64 originally started out as a generic platform fighting game called Dragon King: The Fighting Game. The creator Masahiro Sakurai presented the prototype to his coworker Satoru Iwata who agreed to help with the project. Sakurai knew that his fighting game needed to include some famous Nintendo characters. Sakurai developed a prototype of the game with four of Nintendo’s characters: Mario, Donkey Kong, Samus Aran, and Fox McCloud....
