Definition
Computer Games are games that are realized in one form or another using digital hardware. Artificial Intelligence is commonly considered a branch of Computing Science which has matured to become a field of its own right. It is concerned with the creation/simulation of intelligent behaviour in/by machines.
Background
In the context of computer games and the computer games industry, games have become an essential part of the software and entertainment industry (Saarikoski and Suominen 2009). Recently there is increased interest in games (Lowood 2009) from a sociological, cultural, and educational point of view (Hildmann and Hildmann 2012a, b). For decades now, it has been argued that games and the playing of games are culturally significant (Mechling 1987).
