Definition

Post-digital graphics is a computer game aesthetics that makes use of nonphotorealistic rendering (NPR) inspired by analogue art and craft. The decision of implementing post-digital graphics is often influenced by budget reasons, but is also a choice of design leading to specific aesthetic effects.

Introduction

The post-digital paradigm emerges in a moment when digital technology is endemic and plays a central role in contemporary culture. Every individual in the West continually carries along a powerful computer used to constantly translate their life into digital data (pictures, GPS positions, social relations, etc.). The significance of physical space is questioned by online services allowing citizens to interact with institutions, public administration, banks, and offices without the need to actually travel there.
