Definition
E-heroism refers to heroism mediated by digital technologies.
E-heroism is an emerging field of study focused on the potential of digital technologies and online platforms to facilitate acts of heroism. It is synonymous with cyber-heroism, digital heroism, online heroism, and digital civic heroism and refers to heroic activity mediated through digital technologies connected to the Internet, e.g., computers, tablets, smartphones, smartwatches, etc. E-heroism encompasses a wide range of activities and forms of activism undertaken by individuals seeking to help other people, animals, and the environment and can be understood as an umbrella term covering an area of inquiry emerging from research in the areas of digital altruism, the cyberhero archetype, cyber-heroism, and collaborative heroism (Klisanin 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017).
