Cell and Tissue Research - Call for Papers: Celebrating 100 years of Cell and Tissue Research

2024 marks Cell and Tissue Research’s 100th year of publication and we are delighted to celebrate with a call for papers for a special anniversary issue.

New Content ItemSince its inception in 1924 as Zeitschrift für Zellforschung und mikroskopische Anatomie and continued in 1974 as Cell and Tissue Research, the journal has served as a prominent platform to communicate timely and novel results in cell biology and microscopic anatomy across species. From the very beginning the journal has consistently published cutting-edge research, such as the first (this opens in a new tab) immunocytochemical investigations (this opens in a new tab) of the hypothalamo-hypophysial system, and introduced the term “peptidergic neuron (this opens in a new tab)“. The journal has also provided major technical advances in the fields of microscopy and tissue culture. Currently, the journal aims to publish research integrating organismic, cellular and molecular levels in order to explore integrative actions of gene products and their impact on the formation of tissue structure and function.

This special edition aims to highlight current advancements and future prospects while reflecting on the journal’s past achievements.

We welcome contributions, whether it be original research or reviews, from leading experts and emerging scholars in the following areas:

  • Neurobiology//Endocrinology/ Neuroendocrinology
  • Development/Growth/Regeneration
  • Stem/Progenitor Cells
  • Extracellular Matrix
  • Cardiac and Skeletal Muscle
  • Reproductive Biology
  • Invertebrates
  • Immunology/Inflammation
  • Disease Mechanisms and Molecular/Cell Biology

We would also like to take this moment to recognize our outgoing Coordinating Editor, Prof. Dr. Klaus Unsicker, who has served the journal in this role since 1996. His exceptional expertise and unwavering dedication played a pivotal role in the journal's growth and advancement.

Submit your manuscript here (this opens in a new tab).
Submission Deadline: 31 March 2024
Guest Editors: David Kelsell, Vera Kozjak-Pavlovic and Horst-Werner Korf
