Abstract

A new phenoxy-bridged tetranuclear zinc(II) complex with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-(salicylidene hydrazone)-phenylethylene-pyrazolone-5 (PMPaP-SAH) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, molar conductivity, TG-DTA and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the complex is tetranuclear with a rectangular Zn4 core and metal ions are held together by four μ-phenoxo bridges that lead to the formation of the tetra-μ-phenolatotetrazinc(II) complex. Each Zn(II) ion in the complex is penta-coordinated with a slightly distorted trigonal bipyramid coordination sphere.
