Abstract

A simple and green ecofriendly approach was demonstrated for the synthesis of silver-reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites (Ag@rGONCs) using Moringa oleifera fruit shell extracts. The synthesized Ag@rGONCs were characterized by UV–visible spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, particle size and zeta potential. The results revealed a successful in situ decoration of Ag@rGONCs by simultaneous reduction of AgNPs and GO using the single reducing agent Moringa oleifera fruit shell extracts in the presence of sunlight. The resulting NCs exhibited good selectivity towards the determination of Pb2+, Hg2+ and Cr(VI) ions with the detection limits of 50 nM, 15 µM and 500 nM, respectively.
