Investigation of Riveted Joints of Fiberglass Composite Materials

  • Published:
Mechanics of Composite Materials Aims and scope

The aim of this study was to determine the feasibility of riveted joints of composites. Using tensile tests, a series of strength investigations were conducted. The strength of composite specimens was examined with and without the presence of a feed force. The specimens were made using two types of fabric with four fiber orientations. The digital image correlation method was used to prepare their strain maps. Depending on the arrangement of fiber orientations, various composite damage models are described. Based on the failure mode of the test specimens, the least and most desirable fiber orientations are determined.
