Corrosion Properties of Titanium Obtained by the Method of Powder Metallurgy

  • Published:
Materials Science Aims and scope

We study the corrosion rate of titanium obtained by the method of powder metallurgy in aqueous solutions of inorganic acids. It is shown that the addition of titanium hydride to the original powder mixture increases the density of the material, decreases the actual contact area with aggressive media, and hence, enhances its corrosion resistance. However, we did not establish any clear relationship between the content of titanium hydride in the original powder mixture and the corrosion rate of the compacted material.
