Abstract

The new molybdenum arsenate compound {Cu4(btp)4[(CuO6)(As3O3)2Mo6O18]}·2H2O (1) [btp = 1,3-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)propane] has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by routine physical methods. This compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group, a = 9.3345(4) Å, b = 13.0930(5) Å, c = 14.6444(6) Å, α = 100.94, β = 90.73, γ = 109.56, V = 1650.19(12) Å3, Z = 1. Interestingly, compound 1 exhibits 1D ladder-like chain in which [(CuO6)(As3O3)2Mo6O18]4− inorganic building block as “bullseye” is modified by tetra-nuclear CuI–btp loops. The luminescence property and the electrochemical behavior of compound 1 have been studied in detail.
