Influence of the inhomogeneity of the principal stress state on the critical loads of a plate with a crack

  • Published:
International Applied Mechanics Aims and scope

A plane problem of the stability of a hinged (integral boundary condition) plate with a central crack is formulated and solved using an exact approach. The plate is compressed along the crack by a constant surface load in inhomogeneous subcritical state. The mechanical effects due to the inhomogeneity of the principal stress state are revealed
