Abstract
An improved photopyroelectric setup, for thermal-diffusivity measurements of liquids, is presented. The improvement consists in attaching a thin foil of a good heat conducting material so as to protect the pyroelectric sensor from the liquid environment allowing thermal characterization of any kind of liquid, even those potentially harmful to the sensor. The corresponding mathematical model is solved and the equivalence, for thermal-diffusivity purposes, between this new PPE setup with other already reported ones in which the PPE sensor is exposed to the liquid environment, is shown.
