Magnetic structure studies of ErMnO3

Abstract.

ErMnO3 forms in a hexagonal structure with P63cm space group. Our neutron-diffraction studies from room temperature to 10 K show that ErMnO3 undergoes an antiferromagnetic transition at around 80 K, consistent with our bulk measurements. Magnetic group theoretical analysis and Rietveld refinements allow us to determine that the antiferromagnetic structure of ErMnO3 belongs to either the Γ2 or the Γ4 representation of the P63cm space group.
