Plasma shielding of a XeCl-laser-irradiated YBCO target

Abstract.

Plasma shielding during the laser ablation process of YBCO high-Tc superconductor is demonstrated by observing the transmissivity of a probe beam. A plasma electron density of 1.2×1022 cm-3 at the end of the laser pulse is estimated.
