In this paper, a new approach to the variable structure system design with conventional PI term and additional low-pass filter is considered. This method can be used for increasing the system steady-state accuracy. In this approach, the sliding mode occurs only in the controlled plant and the sliding manifold order is not increased, unlike similar variable structure control algorithms. The efficiency of such a control approach is verified by digital simulation results of illustrative control systems: unstable plant control and DC motor speed control.
