Summary
Two additional factor pairs for chlorophyll-deficient seedlings are described.
Trebi IV contains a simple mendelian factor pair (Or or) for green versus orange seedlings. Under field conditions (low temperature) the seedlings die when about four weeks old, but in the greenhouse when the temperature is kept high they may mature. The colour of the seedlings is “apricot yellow” (Ridgeway, Plate IV).
Minnesota 72–8 contains a simple mendelian factor pair (Yy) for green versus virescent seedlings. The seedlings die when about two weeks old.
Both of the above factor pairs are located in Group I. The order of the genes on the chromosome map is: Non-six-row versus six-row (Vv), green versus virescent (Yy), green versus chlorina (Pf), and green versus orange (Or or).
The factor pairs (Yy) and (Or or) were found to be independent of factor pairs located in each of the other six linkage groups.
