Some extensions of the born approximation for phase shifts

Summary

A new approximation for phase shifts is derived using a method radically different from the usual Green’s function techniques. It turns out to be a cross between the Born and WKB approximations and provides a powerful tool for investigating the behavior of the Born formula. In particular, the latter is shown to be valid for weak, long range potentials regardless of the magnitude of the phase shift. Several numerical examples are included.

Con un metodo radicalmente diverso dalle tecniche usuali con funzioni di Green, si deduce una nuova approssimazione per gli spostamenti di fase. Risulta che esso è un incrocio fra le approssimazioni di Born e di WKB e fornisce un potente mezzo per studiaie il comportamento della formula di Born. In particolare si dimostra che quest’ultima è valida per potenziali deboli, di « range » lungo indipendentemente dalla grandezza dello spostamento di fase. Si includono parecchi esempi numerici.
