Acoustic absorption in mixtures of glycerol and water below 1 MHz

Summary

Present measurements of ultrasonic absorption and dispersion in the mixtures of glycerol and water at 0.6 MHz confirm the formation of the 1:1 complex between glycerol and water molecules. Free-energy difference between the states corresponding to the presence and absence of complexes comes out to be of the order of 1 kcal/mol which validates our earlier assumption on the hydrogen bonded complex. These measurements also indicate that the complex between one molecule of glycerol and six molecules of water can only be detected at frequencies 0.5 MHz or below.

Le misure attuali di assorbimento e di dispersione ultrasoniche nelle miscele di glicerolo ed acqua a 0.6 MHz confermano la formazione del complesso 1:1 fra le molecole di acqua e di glicerolo. La differenza dell’energia libera fra gli stati corrispondenti alla presenza ed all’assenza di complessi risulta dell’ordine di 1 kcal/mol che convalida la nostra precedente ipotesi sul complesso dell’idrogeno legato. Queste misure indicano anche che il complesso fra una molecola di glicerolo e sei molecole di acqua può essere rivelato solo a frequenze di 0.5 MHz o inferiori.

Настояшие иэмерения ультраэвукового поглошения и дисперсии в смесях глицерола и воды при 0.6 Мг/с подтверждают обраэование комплекса 1:1 между молекулами глицерола и воды. Раэность свободных знергий между состояниями, соответствуюшими наличию и отсутствию комплексов, составляет величину, порядка 1 ккал/мол, которая соответствует нащему предварительному предположению для водородного свяэанного комплекса. Эти иэмерения также укаэывают, что комплекс между одной молекулой глицерола и щестью молекулами воды может быть обнаружен при частотах 0.5 Мг/с или ниже.
