7. Conclusion
The present discussion is summarized as follows. The patterns of the successive occurrences of the volcanic earthquakes in association with the volcanic explosion and also in the non-volcanic earthquakes are classified into three types. From the results of the model experiment on the earthquake occurrences, it is clear that these patterns depend on the degree of the stress concentration caused by the heterogeneity of the materials and/or the state of the applied stresses. It is therefore most necessary for the fundamental study of the prediction of the volcanic explosions to understand the mechanism which generates various patterns of the occurrences of the volcanic earthquakes before explosion.
