Abstract

This paper deals with a numerical simulation of plasma flows produced when heating the inlet-hole walls of a hohlfraum target by x-ray radiation. Results of one-dimensional numerical calculation are presented for the interaction of ablated plasma flows with an internal transverse magnetic field or with subcritical plasma contained in the target cavity. The calculations confirm the possibility of plasma-flow suppression during the time of laser-pulse action.
