Summary
Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) was used for quality control and evaluation of volatile oils in Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCMs). Three assay methods are suggested for the analysis of volatile oils of TCMs and are determination on pharmaceutically active components, effective component groups and identification of common peaks from GC×GC fingerprint. These methods indicate the applicability of GC×GC methods to quality control of TCMs.
