Abstract

A magnetic anomaly chart is presented of the Northeast Atlantic Ocean between 35° and 50° N. This chart is based upon measurements obtained during the period 1956–1984. In this paper a description is given of the data set, of the computer program which was used to obtain grid values from the data points and of the subsequent contouring. As a check on the accuracy and internal consistency of the data set, a cross-over analysis was performed for different parts of the area.

A general description of the magnetic anomalies is given against the background of the known structure of the area. A detailed interpretation of the anomalies falls outside the scope of this paper.
