Summary
For the simple groupH 0 of the 1,451,520 automorphisms of the 28 bitangents to a plane quartic curve, and for its subgroupG of 51840 automorphisms of the 27 lines on the cubic surface, each related to an exceptional Lie algebra (E 7 andE 8), are determined all the classes and irreducible characters, some irreducible representations, certain basic invariants ofG, and the large subgroups ofH 0.
