Abstract

Excitation of transverse parasitic modes at the frequency of the operating mode in free-electron masers is considered. The influence of parasitic field on the starting current of the autooscillator with a low-quality cavity as well as the phenomenon of suppression of the total parasitic field by the operating one in the regime of its saturation are investigated.
