Conversion ofp-hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid into homogentisic acid: Possible participation ofp-quinol intermediates

Summary

A proposed intermediate in the metabolic transformation ofp-hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid into homogentisic acid has been synthetized. In an experiment with radioactive material in pig liver homogenate it could be shown that this compound does not occur as a free intermediate.
