Monoaminergic neurotoxins: Are they selective?

  • Published:
Journal of Neural Transmission Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Introduction of 6-hydroxydopamine into the cerebrospinal fluid produces a selective destruction of adrenergic pathways. However, the selectivity of interstitial injections of 6-hydroxydopamine for catecholamine elements is critically dependent upon the dose and volume of injection and must be evaluated by biochemical and cytochemical indices.
