Conclusions

  1. 1.

    A classification of the abnormal gaze is herein presented, with a brief survey of the findings, diagnoses and dynamics involved.

  2. 2.

    The utilization of the interreaction of the gazes of patient and thrapist provides better possibilities than otherwise for the development of the weak ego.

  3. 3.

    A cursory discussion of the technique, employing the gaze phenomena, lists a number of the basic forces needed to influence the rigid negative patterns in the severe borderline neuroses.

  4. 4.

    Prognostic features in the specific gazes are indicated.

  5. 5.

    A phenomenonological concept of ego delimitations through the gaze structure is discussed.
