• 1. A classification of the abnormal gaze is herein presented, with a brief survey of the findings, diagnoses and dynamics involved.

• 2. The utilization of the interreaction of the gazes of patient and thrapist provides better possibilities than otherwise for the development of the weak ego.

• 3. A cursory discussion of the technique, employing the gaze phenomena, lists a number of the basic forces needed to influence the rigid negative patterns in the severe borderline neuroses.

• 4. Prognostic features in the specific gazes are indicated.

• 5. A phenomenonological concept of ego delimitations through the gaze structure is discussed.
